But earlier this year I made the decision to stop eating mammals. I did it for three reasons. Fish and fowl are healthier food sources than beef or pork. Fish and fowl are less intelligent than mammals. There’s a reason why the bible and the jews say not to eat pork. Although I’m not jewish, I think it’s probably a good idea to abstain from pig flesh.
Just to clarify I am a meat eater, I got no problem killing animals to eat. I hope you did not misinterpret my original post on this thread - I was attempting to point out killing an animal to eat, is killing an animal to eat - weather it is beating them, or what ever, it makes little difference to the animal how it is killed.
Similarly, I eat meat, but draw the line at dog, horse, dolphin, etc.
I believe that’s ok. There is a big difference between slaughter, and beating a dog with a stick till its dead, or boiling a live cat.(re: post #58)
weather it is beating them, or what ever, it makes little difference to the animal how it is killed.

I vehemently disagree with you.
Killing painlessly, or slow torturous killing are WILDLY different in my book.
I think you may be confused about “the true Christian way.” To not eat animal flesh is a personal decision, but I think you’ll have a hard time proving God/Jesus forbid eating meat. In fact, there are many Bible passages that prove otherwise.
I do think fighting animals for fun is sickening.
How come you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink yet you can make him fight to the death ?

Nearly the same article, carried by the same newspaper, with photographs of the same event, and citing the same "expert" was written over a year ago but by different authors. It's interesting because despite the same topic being covered the two articles have somewhat contradictory information.
Compare this "Sometimes the fights last 10 minutes sometimes they go on for half an hour. Its not normally a fight to the death but occasionally animals have to be put down." The Miao people, the fifth largest of 56 ethnic groups recognised by the Peoples Republic of China, regard the fighting as thrilling, exciting and fascinating. One guide explains how two teams of horses, specially selected to be plump, sturdy and energetic, are led to the arena and then pitted against each other one by one. They bite each other, turn their hooves and kick the other side heavily. The nervous and fierce fight makes audiences hold their breath or cheer and applaud loudly from time to time," says the guide. If one horse falls down or runs away, the other one is declared the winner and another two take their place. The winning horses then fight each other. The last two battle it out to be champion. While the losers are led away to lick their wounds, the sweat-soaked champion is draped in red while his owner feels very proud for having such a brave and strong steed.'
to this The stallions are driven into a frenzy by the simple ploy of leading them to a mare in heat, then taking her away when they are roused. Mares are often injected with hormones to keep them in heat longer. If they are still reluctant when the mare is removed, they are whipped, and gunshots are fired to stir them up. A losing horse is often pitted against a much stronger opponent in its next fight to ensure it dies and the spectators get the bloody finale they enjoy. Then, according to reports from some of the remote regions, the dead horse is barbecued as part of the festival.
The newer article even adds a conspiratorial tone for gullible readers claiming that the Chinese government wants to hide the photos and information from you the reader, despite the fact that a similar story with photo was published by the Chinese press, though it does not approach the issue from an animal welfare view.

We used to see horses fighting in the movies. That’s because stallions really do fight over males. As to these fight, horses may be “magnicent” but they are pretty dumb. Hope they let the winners mount the mares. The least they can do, and better than sugar.

The Chinese are animals.
The real animals...
Don't be too hard on them. There was a time when unruly crowds in America would string up a black man and set him on fire and burn him alive.
Re: In fact, there are many Bible passages that prove otherwise
There are also Bible passages which says an eye for an eye.....is revenge okay according to the Bible?
No, I am not a Seventh Day Adventist.
