Sex with Americans risky for Mexican hookers
It takes two to tango.
I remember that in the late 1970s (or early 1980s), the public health
officials in Oklahoma got a shock:
a sudden and significant rise in the number of syphilis cases
in Oklahoma City.
After some tracking-down, it turned out that most of the cases
had a common geographical origin:
"Boys Town", the home base for "working girls" in Matamoros, Mexico.
With enough publicity and work by the public health folks,
these fellows that had a good time in "Boys Town" were soon treated
and the syphilis rate went down to what was the usual "background"
level for the preceding decades.

Growing up across the border from Ciudad Acuna and Boystown it was common for several of my classmates to come down with the Clapp from time to time....Just about any trip to Boystown and taking advantage of the sights there ended up with a trip to the local physician a week later for antibiotics.
