Our dog is well behaved - he's also very smart - food-based intelligence. He knows better than to get up on the counters for food, so he stands on his hind legs and sort of hovers over the counter like a giant furry hummingbird. As big as he is - 100 pounds or so - he never touches the counter, and to him, that isn't breaking the rules.

Funny how they find the loopholes.

My older dog does the same thing. We call it "counter surfing". She has amazing balance on her hind legs, never touches the counter with anything except her lips . . . .

The puppy is still a sprawler, she's growing so fast she hasn't found her balance yet. But she'll learn . . .
