Hi Tina how are you? I just think a small child doesn't need more then a hand on his/her bottom. I don't see the need for a wooden spoon or any other tool. Not on a bare bottom either! I can remember being told to go cut a switch from the willow tree. If it wasn't a thick enough one well then you were in worse trouble.
Hitting/beating a child doesn't get you too far IMHO. I believe in time out or taking away favorite things. I have spanked my children when they did something like dart into the street or touch the hot stove etc. They still remember & remind me of it. I do believe spanking should be up to the parent. It ought to be legal & it is in some schools in different states. However if anyone in the school system dared to touch a child of mine I feel for them because I would be one pi$t off Pandora.
