Didn’t seem to adversely affect me, my husband nor my son. My sister is using the “timeout” on her girls. Unfortunately she will find out later that she will wish she had spanked. Children rarely if ever forget why they were spanked. I can remember the method and the reason for my spankings to this day and I’m 45. The rule is consistancy. Don’t just threaten to do it. Follow up.

One problem I’ve seen even on freeper threads is the blurring of the line between spanking and abuse.

Many of us were spanked occasionally - not severely - and didn’t consider it “abuse.”

Others were spanked often and severely.

Some will say it is a crime, others will say it is a crime to not discipline their child and allow them to grow into miserable brats.

In my house, “The look” from dad is far more feared than any physical punishment which could be dispensed. I can make the lower lip tremble from ten paces when I choose.
