'Christ' Taken Out Of Christmas Festival [BARF Alert!]

SAGINAW, Mich. -- Tightening budgets have forced Mt. Pleasant to take Christ out of their Christmas.

The traditional Dickens Christmas Festival has been re-named the Dickens Holiday Festival so the city can advertise in local schools.

In order to get more bang for their buck out of a thinning advertisement budget, the organization wants to put fliers in schools. For that to happen, the word “Christmas” had to be removed.

Downtown Development Coordinator Michelle Sponseller said many people are unhappy with the change.

“We changed the name this year for the schools because we wanted to advertise in the school brochures and the schools have a list of words you can’t use like Santa, Christmas and Nativity. So did a brochure for the schools and we took those words out.”

Sponseller said they made a brochure for the public with word Christmas is still in it.

Downtown Development board member Kriss Roethleisberger said, “The spirit of the event has not changed. We have the live Nativity, the lighted Christmas parade, the community Christmas sing. It was simply that on one piece of marketing material we had the use the word ‘holiday.’”

The entire event is put on by volunteers and starts Friday, Nov. 30 and runs through the weekend.

The organization maintains the spirit of the festival won’t change, simply the name.

This is one of the most asinine things I've ever heard.

War on Christmas continues to satisify the PC b.s. crowd.

Unbelievable!

"But Islam, Mohammed, Muslim, Beheading, Jihad....are all OK."

Just disgusting!

Goodbye, Saginaw. Goodbye, Michigan!

Finally the season will be known only as “mas”.

As in, “No mas, Tomas.”

I don’t think the name of that book was “A Holiday Carol”. This is pretty stupid.

My favorite politically correct Christmas Winter Holiday carols:

"Still in the Night"
"O Family Tree"
"O Come All Ye Ambivalent"
Random Chance Rest Ye Merry Gentlepersons"

Do the secular fanatics know that the word “holiday” is simply a variant of “holy day”? They’re still promoting religion even as they try to obliterate it.

I wish I could say I’m surprised, but very little does anymore.

It probably won’t be long before Pelosi and Reid use Tiny Tim as an example of conservative heartlessness (the boy would never have gotten sick if we have universal health care, don’t you know.) /sarcasm

Dickens is spinning in his grave!

Can you imagine “The Christmas Carol” without Christmas?! Absurd times we live in!

If anyone is attending this festival, why not take a tiny nativity (hand size) with you. Perhaps you can find a Christmas button for your coat too! It would be funny if hundreds of nativities appeared on the lawn of City Hall overnight.... Take back your city!

**Note Jesus, Mary and Joseph are religious figures; read on only if you believe in freedom of religion not freedom FROM religion...

Future Shocking
1980’s Jesus, Mary and Joesph classified as Homeless
2000’s Jesus, Mary and Joseph classified as Illegal Aliens
2020’s Jesus, Mary and Joseph Classified as Angry Whites

You ain't kiddin'!

This is the result of liberals polluting every aspect of traditional (holiday) life. Liberals are evil and I despise them and everything they stand for.

Someone needs to challenge the Board of Educationas to why the words “Santa, Christmas, and Nativity” are BANNED.

That is inexcusable.

I doubt that the budget had anything to do with it. Maybe they used the budget as an excuse for their decision to remove Christ from their Christmas activities.

"Still in the Night" is a politically correct version of "Silent Night" that got headlines last year. Likewise, "O Family Tree" is a version of "O Christmas Tree" that was pubicly unveiled only last week.

The last two exist only in my fertile imagination.

The answer to this is simple. Just don't buy anything for anyone over 13 years old.

Jesus Christ got three Christmas presents in his entire life.

I work in retail (IT) and I see that this whole grotesque buying binge has nothing, and I believe has never had anything to do with celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ - and of late is being used into a mechanism for secularizing our society. I've told every member of my family not to buy me anything and I wouldn't be buying them anything. After a couple of embarrassing years they finally got the message. One of them told me last year "You know we decided to take the money we were going to spend on you and used it to buy presents for the troops in Iraq. For me, that was a win/win.

So, if you are a Christian please do celebrate Christmas. Gather and show your love for your family, give presents to the children, but try to use the gifts to teach them lessons about value and values don't just load them up with junk. Take the money you save buying gifts for adults who don't need and probably don't even want another gizmo or googah. Reflect on what Jesus would have you use the money for. I donate to specific local charities (most of the national org's have been take over by the left or are so inefficient in their use of funds that they do no good). I don't give a dime to anything in San Francisco because the city is rich and most of the "charities" are little more than front organizations for the left. My giving goes mostly to church homeless programs, local hospices and animal shelters in rural Northern California counties. This year I will also be giving to lupus, diabetes and cancer organizations, as well as to support the troops overseas.
