Romney backlash, yes.

But also many social conservative aren’t really for small government - they want government to enforce their views.

Also Fred has spoken well so far. Its early but he needs to speak better and more clearly.

I would tend to agree . Thompson has a great message, but needs to polish his speaking skills to make the message come across a little better .

I would disagree with you there - most social conservatives would like smaller government. The only issues that we really want decided on a national level are abortion and marriage. The Washington DC groups may get a beltway mentality in the same way that most groups based in DC do. However, many of us would be happy to dismantle parts of the federal government like the endowment for the arts, the department of education, OSHA, Social Security, The Endangered Species Act, the Welfare Program, and many other federal regulatory schemes.
