Clinton's 'fiscal responsibility' a sham, critics say

WASHINGTON — New York Sen. Hillary Clinton vows that as president, she'd return the country to "fiscal responsibility," but critics charge that her proposals could blow a hole worth hundreds of billions of dollars in the deficit and even would provide a tax cut to some of America's richest people.

The Democratic front-runner says her torrent of promises — which would cost hundreds of billions of dollars — is paid for.

"What Senator Clinton has said throughout the campaign is that she will pay for every single proposal without increasing the deficit," said Brian Deese, a policy analyst with the Clinton campaign. "Focusing on a commitment to pay-as-you-go would be a dramatic change from the Bush administration."

But pledging not to increase the deficit — as opposed to reducing it — isn't real fiscal responsibility, critics say, questioning Clinton's method of payment for her most prominent, most expensive proposals:

New York state has “lost 26,344 manufacturing jobs and 810 manufacturers since August of last year.” Western New York has been hit particularly hard, losing 3,000 manufacturing jobs — the good-paying kind — in the past year.

Her new ‘programs’, paid for by the taxpayers are already up to a figure in excess of $1bn/year.

Debate question should be, “would you make the tax cuts permanent?”

“”What Senator Clinton has said throughout the campaign is that she will pay for every single proposal ...”

This, coming from a woman who couldn’t manage to pay a tip?

Even with a staff of dozens whose job it is to take care of such details?

I work for a privately-held, 60+ year-old upstate NY manufacturer. We’ve recently opened a new plant in the Southwest, and will probably open or acquire a plant in the Southeast within a few years. Our Southwest plant has doubled in capacity within a year, and will double again in the next year. Our business is growing, but NOT in NY state. I can envision a time in the not-so-distant future where the business will relocate to somewhere in the south. The owners have told me that dealing with NY local and state governments, and all the related taxes, is utterly repressive.

Upstate NY is dead and/or dying from a manufacturing standpoint depending upon the area. Government, state and local, have totally failed the entire upstate NY area. Their practice of static economics (i.e., less people = more taxes) will cause a financial collapse at some point.

Why more people aren’t upset and demanding change is an absolute mystery to me...They are all to blame, Pataki, Silver, Bruno, Clinton, Schumer, now Spitzer, you name them, they’ve all failed upstate NY and will continue to do so...after all, the votes and the money are in NYC, so who cares about upstate?

Sorry for the rant, but this is really a good place to raise a family, good housing, good environment (except the winters!) But the American dream is dead in upstate NY, no longer can a family survive on a single income nor hope for a good paying job with a good future...hello, North Carolina, or Virginia, or Alabama, or South Carolina, or Texas, anywhere but upstate NY...

[Debate question should be, “would you make the tax cuts permanent?”]

I believe she was asked this by one of the MSM trolls and managed to hedge it altogether. Of course the answer is a resounding NO, NOT, NOT EVER, NEVER!
