Thompson charges Fox News is biased against his campaign By Bob Cusack | Posted 11/25/07 11:05 a.m. [ET] November 25, 2007 Former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) suggested on Sunday that Fox News is biased against his campaign, charging that the network highlights commentators who have been critical of his run for the presidency.
In an interview on "Fox News Sunday," host Chris Wallace pressed Thompson on how some conservatives have lambasted Thompson's campaign and showed clips of Fox conservative commentators Charles Krauthammer and Fred Barnes criticizing the former senator.
Thompson said, "This has been a constant mantra of Fox, to tell you the truth." He noted that other conservatives have praised his bid for the GOP nomination and took issue with a Fox promo that focused on polling in New Hampshire, where Thompson is registering in the single digits.
He said he is running second in national polls and has been leading or tied for the lead in South Carolina for "a long, long time."
Thompson, in a firm, but measured tone, scolded Wallace: "...for you to highlight nothing but the negatives in terms of the polls and then put on your own guys who have been predicting for four months, really, that I couldn't do it, kind of skew things a little bit. There's a lot of other opinion out there."

He is right and I totally don’t understand it.
He’s our most conservative candidate and, except for Rudy, the one most capable of beating Hillary.
Good to know. I have been pushing Hunter or Thompson from day one and will continue to do so.
Good for Fred. He obviously didn’t set out to run against the FNC, but that’s what he’s been dealt so he might as well play it.
What Fred was talking about had nothing to do with this or any other interview with him.
He was talking about their baseless smear of his campaign when the national polls tell a far different story.
He is #2 in the polls and Fox has been trying to write off his campaign as dead by using the poll of one pissy little state (NH) out of context to do it.
Fred just set the record straight and now MSNBC and ABC are already reporting on the Fox interview!
Ah, a well written slam! Loved it.
ALL of them are. You know that.....
I worked for an ass*ole supervisor once who, whenever I or any other employee pointed out a stupid policy that hindered our productivity, would smugly reprimand: "Would you like some cheese with that whine?" And that was the end of the discussion, because the "whining" charge is a cop-out, an avoidance technique. Neither Thompson nor me and my fellow employers complained about the "unfairness" of something; we identified a factor that displeased someone in a position of power.
That company, incidentally, is (sadly, but not surprisingly) on the brink of bankruptcy now, some five years later.
I don’t think that you watched the same interview that I did.
GO FRED!
Didn’t see the interview(was in church) but then again I don’t watch FNC all that much more anyways except for the news these days. The quality has deteriorated to the same level the MSM is at—too much junk news. That and I’ve noticed some pushing for Hildebeast-ICK.
Ever since Fox had their idiot O’Reilly accuse Free Republic of being a radical rightest hate website that advocates the assassination of HRC, I can’t stand anything associated with them.
Hey Fox! Here’s your special one finger salute!
Like I said, he’s right. We Fred supporters have noticed the obvious bias against him in the media and discount it. Fred pointing it out just gives them the opportunity to do just what they have done here. It wont change our minds at all. But there are too many who make their decision based on these tweaked headlines and sounbites. Why give them ammo at this late stage.
What is not clear to me is WHY they hate Fred more than Rudy's other opponents. The way I see it, there are 2 possibilities: A) They see Fred as the only REAL threat to Rudy's nomination, or B) Fred personally ticked them off (possibly his no-show for the NH debate?)
Any thoughts?
“He isnt playing the victim. I didnt see the interview, but the words quoted here indicate that he is simply telling it like it is. Fox is prejudiced, and obviously Murdoch, who supports Giuliani and Hillary, has given orders to trash Fred.
Playing the weak victim would be stupid, but calling a spade a spade is something we should be hearing more of from our politicians.”
Well stated!
“The way I see it, there are 2 possibilities: A) They see Fred as the only REAL threat to Rudy’s nomination”
Stop right there!
