Uproar Over Mass. Judge Who Released Killer Takes Political Tilt for Romney Campaign

DERRY, N.H. — The uproar over the Massachusetts judge who released a convicted killer now being held on two fresh murders in Washington state has taken a political tilt for the campaign of Mitt Romney, who nominated the judge when he was governor.

The GOP presidential candidate on Saturday personally called for the resignation of Superior Court Judge Kathe M. Tuttman, who overruled a lower court ruling and released convicted killer Daniel Tavares Jr. in July, rejecting prosecutors' request to set his bail at $50,000 after he was arrested on assault charges. Tavares had also once threatened to kill Romney.

"The judge showed an inexplicable lack of good judgment in a hearing that decided to put someone on the street who had not only in the past been convicted of manslaughter, but had threatened the lives of other individuals and was a flight risk ... her lack of judgment suggested a need to resign from that position," Romney said.

If Mitt had good judgment ... there would be no need for a resignation. Mitt is an idiot! He’s trying to buy the Presidency with a slick campaign.

Mitt is not my choice, but that is not fair. Many judges have been appointed who are expected to remain conservative. Their change on the court can sometimes not be foreseen.

Can anyone say Willie Horton? Another Massachusetts Governor makes big mistake on allowing criminals to be released, although Dukakis furlowed Horton himself.

But this is a prime example of the history of Mitt Romney, he governed Massachusetts as a RINO and we will continue to see this guy mascarading as a Conservative. I’m glad he realizes his mistake now, but it is too late for the families of the dead victims.

What on God's green earth possessed Mitt Romney to name that man a judge?

Excellent point, Doug! We have evidence of that very thing on the Supreme Court, appointed by RR.

At least Romney is saying what the judge did was wrong. Dukakis, or any rat would never do that.

FRED THOMPSON - PRO-LIFE - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE - SECURE THE BORDERS - FEDERALIST - STRONG NATIONAL SECURITY ADVOCATE - LEADER WHO WILL CHOOSE JUDGES TO PROTECT AMERICA AND THE CONSTITUTION - PING!

Romney is a liberal, through and through. RINO is written all over pretty-boy’s picture perfect face. However, there is no depth in his principles, only a great deal of depth to his pocketbook.

Wake up Conservatives, Fred Thompson will choose the right Judges and there will be 2 maybe 3 vacancies on the Supreme Court in the next 8 years. Do you want to risk Romney making those choices or Rudy?

You're way off base, Doug. Romney appointed mostly liberal Democrats to the bench. This judge, Kathe Tuttman, was one of those liberal Democrats, appointed in the name of "diversity".

Romney Names 4 Women to Bench:
Seen as response to call for diversity

From the article:

"Tuttman and Hopkins are registered Democrats."

Romney is the liberal scumbag who appointed this liberal rat judge and now he's trying to pass the buck. Gee, what a stand-up guy.

It’s why I have said from the beginning that I cannot vote for anybody who has been elected by Massachusetts, the same state that routinely re-elects Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Barney Frank, Edward Markey, William Delahunt, etc. That state hasn’t elected a single Republican to Congress in YEARS. Not one.

But they elected Mitt Romney?
None for me, thanks.

first, the judge is a woman. Second, apparently he was given lists of qualifications without names to pick for judges. So PUT THAT IN YOUR FREAKING PIPE AND SMOKE IT, AND ALL YOU OTHER ROMNEY HATERS TOO! He will be the nominee you might as well get used to it. love, libbilu.

It's funny (not in a humorous way) but all Mitt supporters can give to explain the lack of leadership on the part of Mitt (like this example) is excuses.

In the final analysis, Mitt was responsible to find out what type of person he was nominating, I know he did, as any successful type businessman (as all the Mitt supporters are continually telling us) would do, so ultimately, the blame falls on Mitt. He nominated a leftist and deserves the consequences which come from this type of leaderless decision making.
