I think it’s great the way France has grown stones overnight in the wake of Sarkozy’s election.
Go, Sarko! No more France bashing from me.

I’m trying to do the same thing. Thank the Good Lord that there’s germans to pick on or I’d probably bust from backed up bile.

Well, it's so much fun I can't quite go THAT far ;-)

But, yer right. Good to see France more on our side than the days of shock-yer-jock.

The French haven't changed. They're just following their own law. The rationale for the dismissal was 'that Rumsfeld benefited from a "customary" immunity from prosecution granted to heads of state and government and foreign ministers, even after they left office.' This is the same law that protects French heads of state from prosecution, in other words. The suit was filed in a French court, not some international court, but the disappointed 'plaintiffs' think international law trumps French law. The FIDH said...in a statement it was "astonished at such a mistaken argument" and said customary immunity from prosecution did not exist under international law.

Besides, the French have a greater sense of self-preservation than to stir up an 'international incident' of this magnitude. If the French were inclined, they were stir something up in the so-called "International Criminal Court."

“...the prisoners at Gitmo has such a good time. Put in stress positions for hours; forced to withstand freezing temperatures naked on the floor for hours...”

From one of the letter-writers at Reuters. Freezing temperatures? Do any of these idiots even know where Guantanamo Bay is? Good grief!

Give France alot of credit. They seem to understand anarchy and laziness, and entitlement only lasts as long as the last ass-kicking.
