To the best of my knowledge, the only crime for which the state of Israel can impose the death penalty is murder in connection with the Nazi Holocaust. So the worst penalty that this Shamir will get is a lengthy prison term - and it appears to be appropriate for the offenses he is alleged to have committed. Just goes to show how marijuana can screw up one's value system.
As I understand it Israel has a death penalty for what they call severe crimes; like treason , terrorism, mass murder, and genocide.
However, other than Eichmann anyone with a death sentence has had it overturned on appeal. - Tom
