Sources: Airspace controls over east China could last until Sunday
Airspace controls that were imposed over eastern China starting on Tuesday morning might be extended until Sunday, sources with the China Eastern airline company said Thursday.
The controls, imposed for unspecified reasons, have affected thousands of passengers traveling to and from eastern China, particularly at airports in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
Sources at the Baiyuan airport in Guangzhou, where flights were delayed for at least 1,600 passengers on Tuesday, said several flights were still affected on Thursday, but only for brief periods, with no large-scale passenger delays.
The airport advised passengers to follow updated flight schedules through phone calls, text messages or logging onto the airport website.
Shanghai's two airports did not give information on the exact number of flights postponed on Thursday. Arrival information on their websites indicated that at least 20 flights were delayed, but it is not known whether the delays were all caused by the airspace controls.
As of Wednesday, the aviation ban had delayed about 150 flights from Shanghai's two airports bound for Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Beijing and Dalian, and affected more than 7,000 passengers.

Words coming out of China are that Chinese miltary is conducting large military exercise aimed at Taiwan.
Ping!
Thousands of Thanksgiving Day travelers bearing live turkeys were most inconvenienced.
To keep passengers from seeing something down there that they “shouldn’t see”? Taiwan wouldn’t be in view from most of the eastern seaboard of China.
2000 hrs on Friday night here now....no unexpected invaders....yet.
You up there in Korea.
Me over here in Japan.
Things do seem to be heating up here in East Asia!
By the way, happy thanksgiving, belatedly, from AiT.
They won’t do anything until after the Olympics and they are hoping one of their agents will win the elction next year.
