I’m all for drilling our own oil.

But what I’ve been angry about lately is even when we drill our own oil, the states where the oil is tax the crap out of it to where it about defeats the purpose, in a redistribution-of-wealth kind of way. Alaska just passed a 25% tax on the oil drill there.

Maybe we need to invoke the Interstate Commerce Clause to stop this interstate theivery.

Well there you are. I don't trust the Congress to do anything smarter than their own "redistribution of wealth" program: nationalize the oil industry.

Not to say we shouldn't become energy independent, and drill the livin' daylights out of every oil deposit possible, but the politicians will quickly find a way to foul it up.
