Paul's service in Congress started in 1997 1976. Since Gingrich supported Laughlin in Paul's 1996 run, it's fair to say Paul had nothing to do with Gingrich accomplishments.

Paul had a break in service from 1985 to 1997. He may be correct in calling himself a ten term Congressman, but he is only on his sixth term in his present Congressional seat.

And Laughlin was a Democrat (turned Republican), not only did Gingrich endorse him, Bush when he was TX Governor and his father endorsed Laughlin as well.
