Its not soldiering the SCOTUS is going to address. DC will wish in retrospect it had not appealed Heller.

I hope you are right. I am very, very worried. I would rather that the SCOTUS had simply let the prior decision stand. Given the shaky composition of the court, we could get a shock at least of the magnitude of Roe vs. Wade. The Founders didn't mean for us to have guns mainly to defend against criminals, but against tyrannical government.

Funny thing is, militia has fought in DC before (unsuccessfully I may add) it would seem to make sense to have the good folks of DC armed as it is the Capital and the Citizens should be willing to defend it.../s

They wimped out. "The court said yesterday it will limit its ruling to one question: whether D.C. laws "violate the Second Amendment rights of individuals who are not affiliated with any state-regulated militia, but who wish to keep handguns and other firearms for private use in their homes."..."

If they decide against the city, all that it will mean is that they can't make it impossible to keep a firearm in their home. It doesn't say anything about using it, nor will it address how many hoops a POS like Mike Bloomberg might make a person jump through to be allowed to keep the gun at home.

It certainly won't address RTC. In the aftermath of a win for our side, D.C. will doubtless pass so many impediments to the ownership of a handgun that few will bother. And they will likely add some more garbage about actually using a firearm for defense: duty to retreat, felony to take gun outside home, automatic arrest and prosecution, etc.
