There’s nothing funny or tabloidish about the basic fact that a young girl went to Aruba for her high school graduation trip and disappeared, most probably having been either murdered or at least killed by accident and body disposed of so that her parents didn’t even know for sure what happened and weren’t able to bury her.

That the tabloids turned it into what they did isn’t the girl’s fault. I also have seen it suggested that she deserved whatever happened to her because she acted unwisely. That’s hogwash as well (that she deserved it or asked for it, whatever).

If she were your girl friend or sister or daughter I wonder if you are so calloused and jaded that you would turn even that into a joke? I pray not.

I hope the Dutch investigators can nail these perps. For her family’s sake.

Exactly. So many jokes. If this man is guilty then he should be punished to the max and those who helped him. The family of this young woman needs to have some peace and to know exactly what happened to their daughter.

I don’t think anything we said was directed to the family or the victim. It’s the incessant day in, night out coverage of a select few cases. What made this case or the little Ramsey girls’ case any different than the hundreds of other murdered or missing? What’s the obsession with these individuals? Is it because they were from families of means? Or in some way marketed to or by the various news media.

It was a tragedy for the families, but I’m sorry, these are not of national importance. It’s like the continual dredging up of Lady Di, don’t get me started on that.
