Once the cop made the decision to take the doofus into custody, what should he have done?

The decision was made and, as they say, “You can bet the rap, but you can’t beat the RIDE.”

He’s already at the point where force will be required (doofus ensured that).
Believe it or not, the tazer is about the lowest level of force the cop can use.

And if he calls for his buddy and backup arrives, that tazer is STILL getting used. No need to have TWO cops wrassling around with the doofus.

I didn’t see a threat from the driver but I wasn't there. Whether he needed to taz him or not I don’t know. I do think that the officer put them both in danger though. First he was almost standing in traffic. Around here they make you pull further over or go to the passenger side. Then he let him fall and lay in the road awhile. Then he left him in the road and the guy got up and was staggering around. He’s lucky that a distracted drive didn’t swerve over, IMO.

Problem is .. there was no fight and and it was the police officer who told the guy to get out of the car .. the guy didn't jump out of his car and attempt to go after the cop.

All the guy was doing was questioning the police officer and pointing to a sign up the road ... he showed no threat and backed away when the tazer was aimed at him

If a gun was pointed at me .. I'd probably do the same .. it's a normal reaction

I don't have a problem with police officers having tazers or using them when needed .. but in this case the officer jumped the gun and used excessive force and it gives other officers a bad rep
