“Not run around and play combat platoon.”

Easy for someone to say who doesn’t put their life on the line bringing in the bad guys.

Every police department thinks they need a SWAT team. Then they have to justify their existance by going out and playing Rambo.

The city should be held liable for the damages to the apartment and the furnishings. While the use of force may well have been called for, the tenant is not charged with any crimes in connection with the fugitive. This is not unlike compensating a property owner for taking his real estate under eminent domain for purposes of public works or park and conservation land.

Something odd here. Neighbors said that police spent hours trying to get the guy to come out.

Seems to me the lady could have just opened her door and said, “He is not here, I don’t know him, take a look.”

Then the police could have gone to Starbucks.

Attacking innocent people with a goon squad is dangerous?

Damn site safer than being a dog catcher, window washer or cab driver.

"Easy for someone to say who doesn’t put their life on the line bringing in the bad guys."

Since we have an "all volunteer" police force these jack booted thugs made choices about the line of work and risks they were willing to take. I'm sure there were equally safe means of securing that apartment that didn't involve excess testosterone and paramilitary hardware. There also has to be remedies when these pin heads screw up. How about someone send them over with some cleaning equipment to clean the apartment and deduct the replacement costs for damaged items, along with a significant punitive settlement from their paychecks.

Sounds romantic and altruistic, sadly the reality is much different. When they recruit for swat teams they use the weapons and tactics to attract the kinda of folks who want to play with those items. Firefighters and paramedics are the ones who save lives. Cops control traffic and play with guns.

These guys are all about their ego’s and their military tactics. Anyone of us could go out and find a place to buy drugs within 2-3 hours and yet the cops can’t find them.

Yeah, bring in the bad guys. "Non-lethal" taser incident. The man actually DID die.

Except that they DON’T put THEIR lives on the line... they put OUR lives on the line with their barbra streisand tactics. THEY have body armor and military-grade weapons. We serfs are not permitted such things. They have tear gas generators and armored vehicles. They have all sorts of intel, yet they cannot find the right address. No, it’s OUR lives, the American Public, that are at risk, not Officer Vicious. (There never WAS an Officer Friendly...)

That is one of the joys and benefits of police work in the modern era, shooting dogs and occasionally “wrong” people.

Piss on that police worshipping attitude. If cops want to be in the military and play with machineguns send them to Iraq. They are cops not a f@#$ing occupying army.

Not in this case. This was way way way overkill and they really trashed the poor girls apartment. The dude they were looking for was not even that big of a bad ass criminal either. He was a petty crook wanted for B and E, and not known to be armed and dangerous. These POS Swat Bozos were out to punish someone so they trashed the place. Its just that they just were at the wrong house.

Something that gets broken while making an arrest is far different than maliciously trahing the place. JBTs do not have the right to simply trash property even if they were at the correct house.

Just who are the "bad guys"?

It's starting to look like cops are hunters and the rest of us are game.
