Gas actually went down a dime here overnight...I kept hearing about 4.00 gas by Thanksgiving.

Usually, it goes up a couple of days before a holiday.

You have debt don’t you? Have you considered moving to a country where finance is almost non-existent?

Sub prime was just the symptom. The disease is debt.

Debt is forbidden in Muslim countries. Perhaps that would be better for ya...

Unfortunately I do have some debt, but I am actively paying it off and becoming debt free. Excessive debt (Personal, business, governmental) is what is hurting the economy. I can not wait until the day I am blessedly debt free.

No, but I am working to be debt free in TX.

“The rich ruleth over the poor and the borrower is the servant of the lender.” - Proverbs 22, Verse 7

When you read the bible you rarely if ever find debt talked about favorably.

This is true. Then again the Israelites were an agrarian society. There's no way one could build a factory without some debt.

And one thing I have noticed from some here is the response when you sya debt is bad and you want to get out of it. It to some is like holding up a cross to a vampire.

Well it is what the economy runs on.

Now on a personal level, getting out of debt is a wonderful thing. It may not always always always be the optimal thing, but it is still a wonderful thing.

In my home town there is a family owned and operated pipe fabircation business. I went to high school with one of the families kids. He now works there in sales. They have over 150 employees and several shops. They completely self fianace the business. They safe for a rainy day and reinvest the profits. Debt is not unavoidable.

Debt is a wealth reducer no matter what.

Well, show me a country that has grown to prominence without debt and I’ll believe you.

Debt is a wealth reducer no matter what.

Oh sure if you have an unlimited supply of cash on hand. Look at this basic example

You have the skills to make $200 rugs but you can't afford the $100 in material so you borrow the 100 at 8%. Buy the material, make the rugs, sell them for 200, pay the bank back 108 and are 92 dollars per unit richer.

Did they not borrow to start or expand the business at some point?

No, they started in 1960 with a welding machine, a shop behind a house on 1/2 acre lot, and a truck.
