Kerry was clever in doing this, he signed the 180, released his records, and now it’s not his fault nor responsibility if we can’t pore over them in detail..."

Actually it is. He is still in complete 100% control of who has access to the records. There is a record of what was declassified. If he will not allow anyone to see the complete record, it only makes the Swiftees case that much more stronger. T.Boone needs to keep the heat up. Upping the offer by $1 million a month with various proceeds to go to military children funds. Keep it going up to his re-election and he is doomed!

"...Keep it going up to his re-election and he is doomed!."

Not in Massachusetts. He could do worse and survive.

That was me that said he was so clever. I said it because in this fight, the press (or media, or DBM, or...) is the only factor that can bring this story to the people at large. The way Kerry did this, he can claim that he did what everyone has been demanding him to do, and the press will say, Oh, OK, and that may be that. They won’t dig or press him, they’ll turn on the Swifts.

They’l segue to what Kranish wrote about the supposed “full release”, and note that there are even more commendations and heroic acts than the modest Kerry had admitted to. This tactic works for the Clintons and may work for Kerry.

My hope is that he’ll goof up, which he tends to do on occasion, or that there will be a major news outlet that does not let him get away with these half-truths.

If he’s hoping for a VP slot, then some media outlet nationally may tackle the story- but if he’s merely ramping up for his re-election, then it’s the Boston Globe and the Herald, I don’t know what other papers there are but they probably are pretty insignificant considering that most of the population is inside of Rt 495. The Globe will defend Kerry no matter what he does or says, just like they defend Kennedy, Frank, Olbert, and the rest of the Progressive Caucus.
