Both are, at best, Rockefeller Republicans. A couple of years ago that seemed to be terribly anachronistic but look here we have two of them at the top of the party. Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. At worst they are a a Rockefeller Republican and a law and order Democrat.
I think we’re on the same page. If Hunter can get more money he should be able to get more exposure.
You have to wonder where companies like Snapple and Select Comfort would be without Rush, or authors like Vince Flynn.
Thanks for the ping.
In the case of Rudy, the reason Rudy is getting a lot of attention is the northeastern bias in the media. The northeastern bias in the media wants two northeasterners to run.
***Here, Rush sees what is going on but does nothing about it. He gets to make money regardless of who wins. And that’s the business he’s in, Radio Advertising to make money. I’m disappointed that he doesn’t back the most conservative candidate in the race. One simple way he could do it is by quoting directly from Internet postings on Free Republic or wherever he finds conservative postings that he agrees with, giving the wink & nod to that site to plough forward. Instead, we’ve got Free Republic split in 2 over Hunter & Thompson.
(11/19) Final in the series: Which candidate should pro-life conservatives rally behind to defeat the liberal abortionists Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton?

Conservatives have proven, time and again in the past few years, that they have the will to impose themselves. We need to do that for Hunter also.
I agree with your comments.
My point is that Rush is so powerful, he could actually get a guy in that wasn’t necessarily the best qualified to lead. Like you say, that’s not a guarantee. He may not get them in even if he did generate the dollars.
I would not like to see a guy rise to the presidential level and be faced with a crisis who didn’t have the ability to develop a game plan and win the support and nomination he desired on his own.
It’s a mixed bag really. I Hunter doesn’t get the support he won’t go anywhere, but the corporations aren’t going to support him because he’s not a free trade at any cost guy. He’s also not an illegal alien at any cost guy.
I question if candidates are supported for what they can do that is best for this nation any longer. I’d be rather comfortable saying that they aren’t.
Alan Mulally....it does kinda roll off the tongue. Whoeverthehell he is.
He needs to "hit a home run" during a debate, if he does that the money will follow. sKerry's fundraising was in the toilet until Dean went nuts and sKerry picked up the ball.
on the other hand, Hanity did come out for Giuliani. In fact he was rabid for santorum who went down in defeat.
I hope Giuliani loses big so Hanity will have a serioius dose of humble pie.
BUMP
Did he mention Romney by name? If he did, I didn't see it.
You're making more of this than is warranted. Maybe Rush does think Romney is more liberal than Hunter. It doesn't follow that he would be disappointed if Romney were the Republican candidate. You could just as easily conclude that Rush is super-impressed with Romney's energy, focus, and intelligence because he didn't cast aspersions on how Romney got to be a front runner (like he did Giuliani and Hillary).
It's obvious to me that Hunter is a conservative. It is equally obvious that Thompson is. Neither is the perfect conservative, but I don't know that such a thing exists.
Romney is hardly a Rockefeller Republican. His social views are anathema to Rockefeller Republicans.
The Rockefeller Republicans aren't stupid. They know a fellow Rockefeller Republican when they see one. That's why they overwhelmingly support Rudy.
You know that consistent 25-30% support that Rudy gets? Rockefeller Republicans, my friend.
Rush is VERY specific here, he speaks about a "lack of genuine conservatism" (which means Rush doesn't believe they are real conservatives) in some candidates from the northeast and candidates is PLURAL. There are ONLY TWO candidates from the northeast, Rooty and Romney. So yes, he specifically mentioned Romney.
>We need Duncan as POTUS<
RIGHT! All true conservatives will support and vote for the true conservation, Duncan Hunter.
PLEASE write out a generous check to: Hunter for President, and TODAY send it to:
Go Hunter 08

True Americans need a True American in the White House. Let’s all do our part to put Duncan Hunter there.
Thank you. :)
Romney is more of a Gerald Ford Republican, a subset of the Rockefeller tribe. He governed Mass the way a Rockefeller Republican would. His stated views over against his performance render him at best ambivalent.

I am absolutely dismayed at the lack of interest in Duncan Hunter from the conservative talk show hosts!! It has really set me back a step in listening to them!!
FReepers know the media will vote near ninety-eight percent democrat. So maybe Rush meant ALL three from the northeast, except he only mentioned Clinton, by name. I hope Rush will clarify.
I wonder if Hannity realizes the damage he’s doing by his constant “top three” kingmaking routine. I think he will be forced to look back on it as very damaging.
