Remember that after Katrina a lot of N.O.’s drunks were re-located to Houston and other cities.

Good point. Maybe it just means that Buffalonians who DO drive while intoxicated, are craftier than 97% of the others with the same inclination. There’s a lot to be said for practice,Practice,Practice.

One of the factors is DWI. Not an issue in Key West.

I would think a more reliable study would be alcohol sales per capita, but perhaps that’s not available.

Chicago only came in at #62?

Oh, ye gods and little fishes. Whoever wrote this has never been in the stands at Wrigley. Those folks tend to forget what inning it is ... before the third.

Colo. Springs is pretty conservative. Maybe they drive drunk while listening to Rush Limbaugh?

I find it somewhat odd that New Orleans is nowhere to be found on that list - or did I miss it?

I was in Grand Rapids a little while back, and heard the lawyer who has the Sunday AM talk show on WOOD said that when he was practicing further north in the lower peninsula, that the three most common crimes he saw were poaching, drunk-driving, and ... drunk-poaching.

New Orleans is the Amsterdam of alcohol.

Drunk poaching very popular. Got venison with a car one nite (accidental) We was too drunk to report it safely, so we gutted it at three in the morning at one of the guy’s house.

Back in the 70’s I lived in leadville Co. At the time, the county had a population about 8,000. The ratio of liquor outlets was 1 for every 100 people.

My first “Boom Days’ celebration was fun from what I was told. The town ran out of alcohol by Sunday afternoon.

If you are not sure where Leadville is, it is half way between Climax and Ball Town along highway 91.

WHERE JOHN WAYNE USED TO DRINK WITH HIS BUDDIES.

No records kept down here! What happens in Fredonia, stays in Fredonia.

Been in Leadville a few times. It’s been booming again. Still a lot of bars! (cold in the winter)

Anchorage, AK #99

Surprised Fairbanks is not on the list. Probably the same way they got removed from the list of most dangerous cities—a technicality. Fairbanks city limits has 30,000 population, which is under the usual 50,000 required for a municipality classification, but the greater Fairbanks has 85,000 which would make the list.

If you removed teddy kennedy, Washington DC would go from #13 to #3. Just a little talked about revelation of the research.
