The movie I saw showed a woman flailing around without any thought. She did not respond when someone called her name. Terri had no damage to her throat and could not swallow. Newborn babies have the ability to swallow. It's instinctive. Terri's brain could not function on that level.
Terri's eyes didn't follow movement in the room. That's instinctive.
Her brain was so damaged she lost basic abilities and instincts that rodents have.
There was no change in her condition for 10+ years.
While I think it would be better to put her to sleep than starve her, she felt nothing.
BTW: A CAT scan is perfect for detecting differences in material density. I.E. fluid vs. nerve tissue.

Why do you make stuff up. She followed movements.
Also, although you don’t care,
she was in bed because she was assaulted — and the ONLY
goal of the Court was to protect the perp.

If she was “brain dead,” why’d they have to dehydrate her to death? Why didn’t they just plant her in the ground?
You have an appropriate screenname. “Ghoul” would fit too.

Terri had no damage to her throat and could not swallowNursing homes and rehab units are full of fully aware and sentient people with "no damage" to their throats who cannot swallow. If you want to hang anything on this particular symptom, you are barking up the wrong tree.
