Smart cars have been sold in Canada for a few years now — all diesel. They get much better mileage than advertised for the new gasoline jobs. It’s a shame that diesel isn’t more popular in the U.S.

Also, the new Smarts are about eight inches longer than the older ones. I guess that the thinking was, if you want to sell small cars to Americans, they’d better be the biggest small cars around. (Just joking.)

Smart cars are great metro cars — it’s all about the parking.
