A security guard patrolling the parking lot looking into cars for things to bust the students on????
Yep.
It happens. I worked in uniform in NY State prisons for many years. They would regularly send out Lieutenants or above to check employee's cars to see if they were locked and what was in them. On several occasions, officers were busted for having shotgun ammo in their cars. One poor guy (many were hunters), had come in on his day off to pick up his paycheck and made the mistake of having his shotgun in the rack in his truck cab. He was brought up on charges and fined heavily. Being state property, there were laws that governed bringing any item on the grounds that could be considered contraband. And, you were required to lock your vehicle at all times.
While that happens too, in this case she was late and parked in a lot where students are not allowed. The campus cop may have noticed this from a distance or he may do patrols for it. When he went up to the vehicle to leave a ticket for the parking thing he saw the ammo. For the life of me, I can’t imagine how they construe shotgun ammo as a “dangerous instrument” in the absence of a shotgun.
