In defense of this woman, I suspect that she intended the term “Buckwheat” to be one of affection. I really doubt that she meant this as a racial slur, and I am unfamiliar with her politics but know she believes in “democracy”.

Why do you feel the need to defend Dartez? She was on the telephone, speaking to a 75-year-old black female activist and community leader, and called her "Buckwheat."

Do you call your female coworkers "Spanky" and "Alfalfa?" Or "Porky?"
