Ron Paul: Trouble back home

Either one of you know anything about this Chris Peden fellow that the author of this article David Hill is touting?. Does he really have a chance at defeating Paul in the Primary. My guess is and I don’t know him is that he’s not that well known across the 14th as he’s only been in politics as a council member in Friendswood for a couple of years. I know the population maybe weighted a little towards the east side of 14 but the district stretches to the west over to Victoria, etc and that I suspect brings in a different mix of voters.

But they will ignore the fact that Duncan Hunter leads in the largest predominantly Republican state in the country.

Thanks. Hunter worked hard in and around the time of the Convention by spending time in the local republican offices around the districts meeting with the officials and holding some public events. I wish there was a current statewide poll but I’ve found nothing that isn’t several months old.

It’s not FLDS country, is it? I could see him being popular with bigamists. Of course, he’s mostly popular with people who cannot control themselves and don’t want anyone else to restrain them either, like drug addicts, pedophiles, anti-semites, racists, and tax cheats.

Ron Paul has never done anything for the district. He simply cannot play well with others and he has never passed any legislation that benefited us here in South Texas. He's a nice old fart as far as crotchety old geezers go. He passes out little pocket sized US Constitutions and that's a nice thing. I've got one he gave me years ago that I carry around with me still.

Ron Paul's newfound fame as a presidential candidate does not translate in to his being popular in his district. Chris Peden may surprise some folks. Which is exectly the same thing that happened when Paul himself got elected. I know, I was a Paulbot when I was a kid and worked on his campaign against Gammage. The Dems were stunned when Paul won. They won't be stunned with him running as president.

I don’t know anything about Peden except that he has declared that he will challenge Paul.

My guess is that unless there are a lot of challengers for Paul’s seat, he is very vulnerable. The level of disgust toward him is very high in his district. His constituents have finally learned what he believes.

Paul has certainly got a lot of public exposure that he’s not had in the past even when he ran for the LP. I’ve never heard of this guy Peden but then I’m not that familiar with the local politics in that district. My personal take on this article is that this guy David Hill is trying to get himself a job with the Peden campaign or maybe already has one. He’s up in The Woodlands and claims to be a GOP pollster-campaign guru of sorts.

Paul finished third in a straw poll of 1,300 Texas Republican activists who had been delegates to recent Republican conventions.

The poll was restricted to previous GOP convention delegates.

So someone who advocates actually following the US Constitution is now a “kook”, while an internationalist is called a “patriot”.

What Ron Paul advocates is a return to a Fortress America mentality and his approach to foreign policy would be even worse than that of Jimmy Carter.

As for Duncan Hunter, before you sling that 'internationalist' label around, Hunter has been front and center for calling so-called 'free trade' with the ChiComs for what it is, UNfair trade which has cost Americans jobs and put our national security at risk.

Most Texans understood the difference, which is why Hunter trounced Ron Paul in his own backyard.
