60,000 Bhutanese Refugees

About 60,000 Bhutanese, now in United Nations camps in Nepal, are to be flown to the U.S. over the next five years by direction of the State Department.
Nepal wants Bhutan to take them back in. Bhutan says they are economic migrants and will not.
To solve the problem, the State Department will bring most of them here. This will help achieve President Bush's social vision of 70,000 refugees for 2007 and help justify staff and salaries at State.
The airplane flights will wind up costing millions. One month after the Bhutanese arrive, they will be eligible for federal, state and local welfare. Few will have jobs waiting for them; perhaps 60 percent will be employed within a year, with an average salary of less than $10 an hour.
Between 2.5 million and 3 million refugees from the Third World have come here since 1980. It is estimated that the current cost of their support is about $10 billion per year. For a tiny fraction of the expense of bringing the Bhutanese to the U.S., by sending money to Nepal, their refugee camps could be made into townships.

Hmmm...60,000 refugees/5 years = 12,000 refugees/year.
For FREE.
And then give them plenty of goodies, gratis.
So I guess the US immigration policy is...we'll fly 12,000 of
refugees from any country per year.
Well, it sounds like it if the major-network radio news report
of the USA taking in 12,000 Iraqis (now in Syria) in the next year.
I call them the "Cut-And-Run Iraqis"; granted some are probably
Christians and dependents of Iraqi working with the Coalition.
But taking in refugees from the country we're "saving" sure sounds
like we're not really winning.
Why should we be taking in citizens from a country we are now
bleeding and paying to save from itself?
It sends a message: maybe the USA is NOT winning and is getting
people to the USA before having to use helicopters to lift them
off the top of the US Embassy.
To solve the problem, the State Department will bring most
of them here.
This will help achieve President Bush's social vision of 70,000

As my old friends from Poland say about the USSR folks they had
to work with during the Cold War:
"They are only workers because employment is guaranteed."
Now it looks like Dubya has taken on the Stalinist Employment Plan.
(can't help but wonder if these salaries are going to some of those
"refuse to serve in Iraq" State Department employees)

Is this a case of a Buddhist-majority country smiling as the USA
takes some Hindus off their hands?
Interesting to see this has been going on since 1990...only now
this mass relocation is being geared up?
From the CIA World Book:

Religions:
Lamaistic Buddhist 75%, Indian- and Nepalese-influenced Hinduism 25%
Disputes - international:
over 100,000 Bhutanese Lhotshampas (Hindus) have been confined
in seven UN Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees camps since
1990;...

THis is a ridiculous idea ! These people are Nepalese , ethnically and most by birth . They slowly ‘invaded’ Bhutan as
guest workers that never went home . Sound familiar?
The came with the entire plethora of Nepalese social ills that continue to blight Nepal today . They did not want to assimilate into Bhutanese culture , linguistically or otherwise. Sound familiar? Then when Bhutan attempted to take a Poll back in the 80’s they discovered that many of the so-called guest worker immigrants had actually died but their permits to be in Bhutan , along with the identities of the deceased Nepalis had been sold to validate new illegal Nepalis . When confronted with these evidences ,many chose to threaten armed insurgency ,rather than compliance .
In the end ,the majority of these offenders ,along with their families were rounded up and booted out .
Now there’s a solution! They have ever since hovered on the U.N. dole in southern Nepal ,claiming to be ‘Bhutanese’ ,and demanding ‘repatriation’ True Bhutanese on the other hand want no part in the return of these problematic individuals .
They justifiably fear that should they be allowed to return they would bring with them the ‘infection’ of Nepalese style Maoism. They are correct . That America will get involved in this situation , or allow these scammers to come here is the most absurd thing I have ever heard of. Better to allow them to migrate to some of the un populated areas of Afghanistan or Iraq...

Lhotshampa
Lhotshampa, or Lhotsampa, means ‘southerners’ in Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan, and refers to the Nepali settlers who reside primarily in the southwest of the country.
The Lhotshampa, who mainly came from Nepal, are generally classified as Hindus. However, this is an oversimplification as many groups that including the Tamang and the Gurung are largely Buddhist; the Kiranti groups that include the Rai and Limbu are largely animist followers of Mundum (these later groups are mainly found in eastern Bhutan). Whether they are Hindu or Tibetan Buddhist, most of them abstain from beef, notably those belonging to the orthodox classes who are vegetarians. Their main festivals include Tihar, a festival superficially similar to the Indian Diwali.
The oversimplification also carries over into when they immigrated into Bhutan. The government had accepted all those settlers of Nepalese origin who were there prior to 1958. However, settlers continued to enter Bhutan with a spurt from the 1960s when Bhutan’s first modern 5-year plan began. These numbers swelled significantly and later led to a crackdown by the government.
In the late 1980s, over 100,000 Lhotshampa were forced out of Bhutan, accused by the government of being illegal aliens. Because of this, many of them have either returned to Nepal or have lived in the refugee camps of India. According to US State Department estimates, about 28% of the population of Bhutan is Lhotshampa if the displaced refugees are counted as citizens.

No, he is not dumb. He intentionally wants to totally change the face of this country. It is called globalization.

Do you not think it a little questionable that the U.S., the country that admits more immigrants than all other countries on the earth combined, is now actively seeking out not merely immigrants, but refugees from third world cultures?
Not merely seeking them out, but chartering what will be the equivalent of over two million 747 miles just to bring them here.
If you can make a good case that these people will benefit us more than they will cost us, great. If not, your blase "nothing wrong with immigration" attitude is ridiculous.

Well, that’s rather substantially better than the record of the dog vomit Somalis the State Department and the Catholic Church jammed down our throats around here. Six years here and their unemployment rate is about 80%. That said, the TROP Bush Administration only has about 13 months left to do its best to destroy the culture of this country. If we can hold on, maybe we’ll get lucky and elect an American in 2008 instead of an elitist globalist.

Thanks to my brother's continuing contacts with The Twin Cities...
my ears perked up when that batch of students (from Egypt?)
"went missing" upon landing in the USA a year or so ago.
Especially when it was found that one of them headed directly to
the Twin Cities.
I said to myself then "Guess he had to make contact with
his Islamist brothers in The Twin Cities."
Well, my brother said that The Twin Cities is just the western-most
province of some of the countries of Continental Europe.
I guess they are hoping to imitate the same mistake of the European
countries by importing their cultural enemies (Muslims/Islamics).
As for Catholic charities, I will give them credit for giving
opportunities to some of "The Lost Boys" (of Sudan?), most of
which are (IIRC) NOT Muslims.
NBC did a special pre-9-11 about some of them coming to America, including
one "Lost Boy" that was given as a young charge to a financier
in Kansas City.
Soon AFTER 9-11, NBC had a second special about how "The Lost
Boys" were doing.
I especially remember the financier recalling a talk with his
"Lost Boy" charge...and the financier was musing about "why
would these people commit the acts on 9-11?" (going for the
"maybe the USA deserved it").
The financier said his "Lost Boy" tried to explain to him that
he (the financier) didn't have a clue about how cruel and vicious
Muslims warriors are, on a routine basis.
I suspect that the videotape of that interview has been expunged from
the NBC DateLine archives, given that NBC News and Brian Williams
(apparently) have gone over to the dark side.

I can hear some of my departed European forbearors:
"FREE Airfare AND welfare for immigrants?
That sure wasn't the deal we got!
What the H-ll were we doing in steerage?"

Thanks. I’m glad to know there’s been a suspension on some old, cruel
sayings:
“The road to H-ll is paved with good intentions”
AND
“Too much of a good thing is a bad thing”
(/sarc, in a friendly way)
I’m apprehensive of the policy these days: to import anybody unwilling
to stand and fight for the country/locale they live in.
I guess I will hold onto the naive hope that their offspring will
stand and fight for the USA.
(Like some notable offspring of Quakers, e.g., Smedley Butler and
Richard M. Nixon )

A country this stupid is on its way to history’s ash heap. We are trillions in debt to the world, and we are still spending our children’s unearned money like drunken sailors, saddling them with debts they can never repay.
