Romance and planning out in detail and having a good, memorable date, seems to be vanishing. I think it is true.
I have visited some US college campuses recently and it seems to also be a victim of political correctness. Girls and boys dressing up nicely and showing a little class--gone. It all looks so trampy and low class and casual and non commital these days. I watched college (male) freshmen just let heavy doors at book store simply slam close on the face of women behind them coming in--not thought to being a real man. I would say, not only romance, but gentlemanly manners and chivalry seem long dead at these places.

I only hold doors open for real ladies.
The rest can kiss my behind.

We don't have that my alma mater yet (which I'm only three years removed from). Of course, it's a small school in the South, so there is still some degree of decorum, but even there you can see starting to erode away.

This is what happens when you tell several generations of men that they are worthless, evil, patriarchal oppressors who make no meaningful contribution to society or culture.
They start acting like it.
How many of those young men have been snarled or scowled at by a feminist for holding a door open?

Chivalry died because liberated women scared it to death. Men got tired of women getting in their face about holding the damn door open for them.

Come round to my daughter's college - Davidson near Charlotte NC - and you will be VERY pleasantly surprised.
A nice, neatly groomed and dressed, well-behaved bunch of courteous, intelligent young men and women.
They aren't ALL gone to the dogs . . . .
