Did you hear about that challenge famed oilman T. Boone Pickens made on November 6 when he offered $1 million to anyone that could disprove even one charge made against Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth?
Like most people that weren't at the American Spectator dinner the evening Pickens made the offer, you probably didn't learn about this until Kerry accepted the challenge ten days later.
[...]
For those interested, this was Pickens's formal reply:
Dear Senator Kerry:So glad to hear from you regarding the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth political ad campaign, and an offer I made public at an American Spectator dinner in Washington, D.C. last week. I am intrigued by your letter, and am certainly open to your challenge.
My concern at the Spectator Dinner was, and continues to be, that you and other political figures were and are maligning the Swift Boat Veterans, and I want to prevent this important part of American history from being unfairly portrayed.
In order to disprove the accuracy of the Swift Boat ads, I will ultimately need you to provide the following: 1) The journal you maintained during your service in Vietnam. 2) Your military record, specifically your service records for the years 1971-1978, and copies of all movies and tapes made during your service.
When you have done so, if you can then prove anything in the ads was materially untrue, I will gladly award $1 million. As you know, I have been a long and proud supporter of the American military and veterans' causes. I now challenge you to make this commitment: If you cannot prove anything in the Swift Boat ads to be untrue, that you will make a $1 million gift to the charity I am choosing -- the Medal of Honor Foundation.
Sincerely,
T. Boone Pickens

He outsourced it to OJ, who was supposed to combine this quest with his search for the real killers. One thing led to another, and now OJ is trying to clear his calendar for another trial.
Brilliant conditions from Pickins.
Precisely. His discharge is the sticking point. If he has a discharge for the good of the Navy in his background he will never release his complete record.
I found it strange that Senator Kerry abruptly quit his quest for the 2008 nomination. One possible reason is that the Clintons have his records and threatened to reveal them.
Just tin foil hatin, or is that CIA Christmas time in Cambodia hatin?
He would have managed to be the owner of the pistols used, then tampered with the one he'd have so it would inflict a superficial wound on himself, thus ending the duel before it began. And while the dueling process was going on, he'd have had the whole thing filmed to show the world what a big, brave doofus he is.
BANG!!!, “I will ultimately need you to provide the following: 1)...”, got you DA:-)
Mr. Pickens, I tip my hat to you sir.
Every month that John Kerry rufuses the challenge to release the complete un-edited records, up the anty by $1 million dollars a month to other various organizations that support the children of the military! The higher the cash goes, the more Kerry's reputation and chances for re-election will be destroyed!
I thought kerry agreed to do it, no? is there a copy of a letter from kerry to T. Boone Pickens accepting the challenge?
Obama and Bill Clinton have both used the term "swift-boated". We need to call them on that. Demand that they prove the Swifties got something wrong. Again, we have high level Democrats smearing our Troops.
Nothing strange about it. That was soon after his famous remark last year:
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you dont, you get stuck in Iraq.
First Kerry said there was nothing to apologize for, then a day later he sort of apologized anyway under pressure from other Democrats, then he tried to take back his semi-apology. He tried to claim the quote was a joke about Bush and not a slur against the troops, and played the victim card by saying he was being "swift-boated" again.
Finally Kerry was humiliated when National Guard troops created a sign saying "Halp us Jon Carry We R stuck hear n Irak." and the photo spread wildly throughout the Internet.
At that point it became obvious that any comeback attempt by Kerry was DOA, and he began disclaiming interest in 2008 so as to avoid further embarrassment.
I think Horseface is gonna be swiping Teresa’s gin soaked raisins for awhile.
They were talking about this on the weekend "Fox & Friends" show this morning and once again came across as not very smart or well-informed. They were puzzled as to why Kerry had not released the information in 2004, and it didn't seem to occur to any of them that the reason might be that the records would vindicate the Swift boat veterans. Even the Marine Greg Kelly was clueless.
Kerry quote: “You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you dont, you get stuck in Iraq.
Thanks for the reminder of that gem, Yet, in spite it, given the other gaffes he made during his 2004 campaign, I sensed something else was work. Regardless, thank heavens he is not in pursuit of the Presidency, albeit, he probably would be easier to beat than the Clinton machine.
“T Boone may live in Amarillo, but he aint totally dumb.”
I guess it’s not so bad to live there when you can look out over a mega cattle feed lot and know you could buy it with pocket change.
Hahaha, you are correct sir.
Am I missing something, what is so special about those years, which appear to be when Kerry had been transferred to the Reserves? I suspect T. Boone knows more than he is letting on.
Didn’t F’ing have some of his records redacted under the friendly Carter administration?
