I’d like to have a neighbor like this guy, but, I’m afraid that the law isn’t going to work in his favor. He was told, more than once to stand back, not stand and deliver. And it’s all on tape.

Three young, and I mean YOUNG, punks tried to break into my home on Monday night. I wasn’t home at the time. No one, that I am aware of, in my cul-de-sac owns a gun. I have a very attentive next door neighbor lady who witnessed the attempt. Where she screwed up is when she waited to see if they got in or not. THEN, she said, she would have called 911.

She’s all straigtened out, now..........

I have neighbors who keep automatic weapons at home (part of various protective services at various embassies in DC).

Having them shoot at a homerobber around here might well cause more damage than any thief could.

So, the dispatcher is not a commisioned officer of the law. He's just a government employee, with no authority over the individual. They are trained, wrongly I believe, to respond that way. Same thing happened to a lady just a little younger, whose granddaughter lived with her in Arlington Texas. Same thing happened to the perp in that case too. Well he got shot, but not killed. The cops came and took her gun, but someone, can't recall if it was a neighbor or a relative, promptly replaced it. She was never prosecuted, IIRC, her case didn't even go to the Grand Jury. But the dispatcher still told her granddaughter, who was the one on the phone while Granny got and used her gun, "tell her not to shoot him" and then "tell her to stop shooting him".
