I emailed Office Max, and got a reply:

OfficeMax advertises to inspire and motivate our customers to do their best work.

We seek environments that best support these advertising goals.

Advertising environments that are controversial or polarize segments of our communities are not the most conducive for our goals.

OfficeMax customers - and our associates - represent a broad and diverse community. We will not knowingly discriminate any groups or individuals on the basis of race, religion or heritage.
