His quote reminded me of the Littleton, CO police department spokesman as that kid was crawling bloodied out the window onto that armored car.

While I agree that reliance on government is something with great limitations for which a citizen should prepare himself, I also feel that the good conservative value of a society with Order leads us to long for the Texas Ranger style of law enforcement.

That creed was "One Riot, One Ranger" and "They were men who could not be stampeded."

I don't know the circumstances here and law enforcement is taught differently today, but perhaps while waiting for backup, and trying to avoid a hostage situation by encouraging a barracaded group, a middle ground might have been found.
