The noose issue is merely a way to get hate crime legislation passed.
To: TornadoAlley3
The use of commas, when done correctly, can be effective, but in this case, slightly overdone, by the newscaster.

Anything to push their “hate crimes” agenda, diversity, etc.
Don’t those breast cancer ribbons look like nooses?

I am highly offended by the usage of the word “Sparks” in the headline because it reminds me of all those illegal tortures that could be happening in Gitmo...and don’t get me started on Tasers.

Was this a “filler” run by the newspaper? Like a “Contact us as 555-5555 to advertise on this page” blurb?

What did the dutch do? I demand my day of compensation on their behalf.
To: TornadoAlley3
I agree. The noose is in poor taste to simply drum up business for advertisers. They should use a well-known, beloved figure that begs advertisers to take their ad dollars to the local paper.
Such as this one:

Bastrop Daily Enterprise Editor Mark Rainwater says last Saturday was the last time the noose ad appeared in the paper. He says the ad had been used for about four years and only used to fill a blank space in that section.

You never heard of the expression: "I'm going to go Dutch on your a**"? Neither have I.
Or it could mean they are going to stick a finger in the problem to plug it up.
