To: Enchante

Many years ago, when I was about 17, I walked into work and greeted my colleagues with “Hi ho,” in my best Kermit the Frog impression (that used to be his traditional greeting; it probably isn’t any more).

One of my coworkers, a young black woman, shot me a hard ook and asked, “What did you call me?” It took a solid second, maybe two, before I realized she was just messing with me. We laughed and got to work.

We all, all of us, need to just get the F over ourselves.
