It's a big day for political TV ads, and in the case of Fred Thompson, he's got great timing. On the same day Rudy Giuliani releases his first TV ad, and the day Gov. Eliot Spitzer (D-N.Y.) decides to withdraw his plan to give illegal immigrants access to driver's licenses, the former Tennessee senator releases a 30-second spot called, "No Amnesty." It starts airing across Iowa today.

The highly-predictive Intrade futures contract is valued at .1 (divide by ten and that’s a penny, folks), but Hunter Duncan actually DID poll at 4% in the notoriously inaccurate ARG, near as I can tell.

Suppose that a person somehow knew with certainty that the Democrat candidate for President would get exactly 49.9% of the popular vote, and the Republican would get exactly 50.1%. How much should that person be willing to pay for shares that will pay off $1 if the Republican gets a larger fraction of the popular-vote than the Democrats (regardless of who wins the electoral votes) and $0 if the Democrat gets the larger fraction?

Intrade.com data can be wrong.
***Just like the stock exchange, but its tendency is towards much better accuracy than polling data. The famous quip about the stock market is that it has predicted 10 of the last 4 recessions.

How much does Willard pay you low-level Mittwits to troll thru sites like FR and spam? Does it make your trailer payments? Are you moving up to a double-wide?

"Probably not as good of a bet."

Trading is not betting. I traded hogs one time because all of the positive signs were there for a buy. Dang, if it didn't go down 900 points in three days. Trading was stopped for three days in a row. I got out quickly, just losing 250 points on the first day. Then the hoggies and traders corrected, and hoggies went north, and did what they were supposed to do.

I know things can turn around for Fred. The markets blink all the time. Just let the market do what the market does best. Fred's going to be our next President, and I hope Duncan Hunter is his VP.

Just give the voters time to do what voters do best. But there are always pitfalls any time you trade. The "Hill-Billies" are an example of that.

I’ve noticed that there are several females on here with a crush on the Ken Doll. Some dudes with a man-crush, also.

This is still may favorite:

Mitt seems to be a very very moral person without the insanity of a carter. I don’t care how many planets he populates in his next life. I wouldn’t mind being one of his wives.

I wonder if Shenna is particular about the number of planets Mitt populates?

Fred’s going to be our next President,
***Then if your crystal ball is working, you could make a 40X return on your money, because they will sell you that contract at $2.50 right now. The contract for President Clinton [barf] is currently at 46.7 so you could make even more money by shorting that one.

I don’t have a crystal ball, nor would it work with voters. Your Intrade is crap, and you should know it.

“Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon, is reeling from reports that his great-grandfather had five wives and at least one of his great-great-grandfathers had 12. That poor bastard had to register at Crate and Barrel 12 times. And that’s back when all they sold were crates and barrels.” - Stephen Colbert, “The Colbert Report,” Comedy Central.

“If he wins, he’d be the first Mormon president. Apparently, Romney is planning on winning the soccer mom vote by marrying all of them.” - Conan O’Brien

I personally like it, even though I am in Duncan Hunter's camp until nomination (of Hunter) or the end.

Having said that, the ad cannot but help our overall cause on this issue nationwide.

It will get folks thinking, of all parties, and makes it even more difficult for the LIBS and RINOS to pull any fast ones on us until at least 2009.

We have GOT to wake even MORE Joe Sixpackers from his slumber on the Lazy Boy over this issue of Illegal Alien Invasion

. That may buy us enough time on the from coast to coast at the stateside/local levels to put into place no nonsense state and local laws to bring about repatriation through attrition on a wide scale.

Good TV ad. Good points. He does have to knock off that bobbing, though.

"Futures" contracts like Intrade represent the current perception of the probability of a particular event. They in no way measure actual support, which a poll does, at least in some measure.

Comparing a probability to a poll is truly an apples and oranges comparison.
