Reported in the “New Scientist”? Isn’t this like 1 step up from Scientific American? (Which in turn is 1 step up from Popular Science”).
I think these days in physics real results are published in one of those WWW based archival media - people assert their right of ownership by posting on the web and skipping the peer review step of conventional journals.
But “New Scientist”? Maybe I’m wrong, but I would have thought that this was not exactly where major advances appear.
