Almost everyone knows that the next president will have to wrestle with the immense costs of retiring baby boomers.

Come now a small band of Democrats and Republicans who want to do the new president a giant favor. They want to force the new administration to face the problem in early 2009.

Why is this a favor? Because dealing with this issue is so politically unsavory that resolving it quickly would be a godsend. Otherwise, it could haunt the White House for four years.

Haha - Hey no offense intended but there’s nothing wrong with dreaming. It’s easy to dream when if you don’t really care about winning an election. Of course the old “I don’t give a damn I got my principles” strategy keeps such dreamers permanently in the minority never even getting them close to making any of their dreams come true... but dream on. Even “man of principle” Reagan didn’t try to phase out social security. Of course he won two elections. ;-)

As soon as a critical mass of boomers get too senile to know what’s going on, we WILL start to phase it out. Just like an underperforming business unit in a company. Do you find this disturbing?

Do I find it disturbing? Why would I find someone else’s fantasies disturbing? Enjoy.
