How does Huckabee do so well?

seems to me that either Obama or Edwards needs to get out of the race and then one of them could beat Hillary. Right now, they’re splitting the vote against her. They should team up...Edwards-Pres, Obama-VP...Hillary would be out.

Time for my dim dream scenario.

Obama starts to lead Hillary. The Clinton attack dogs destroy Obama, but completely alienate the dim’s black base in doing so.

Hillary then runs and loses big, taking her off the table for future runs.

If Romney wins the nomination, Thompson could in fact be a good veep pick. Romney needs help in the south, even in the general election, I think. Might help sugar coat what some conservative voters would feel is a bitter pill to swallow.( A squishy Northeastern Republican who belongs to a bizarre cult being the nominee.) (ps--that was a joke. sort of.)Then again I've never seen any "Anyone but Romney" slogans, and I've sure seen em about that other squishy Northeasterner.

So maybe it will come down to a Romney/Thompson ticket. Thompson's assets being leveraged by an efficient executive, uniting the GOP voters. I could see that. Would the squishy middle buy in come the general? I think the DEMs don't realize how bad their candidates are, or maybe it's just me.

Ya don’t have much more than that to work with. Single digit. Sheesh. Pretty soon he’ll be elbowing his way into a debate. Question: If it did turn out to be Romney/Thompson, would you support that ticket? Mildly? Enthusiastically? Not asking you to negotiate defeat, just curious about you as an individual speculating on a hypothetical.

I've said it before, it's only Iowa. Unless you live there, who really cares?

Here come the six Iowans, guns blazing.

A win for Romney in Iowa, or NH for that matter, is barely a win. It doesn’t give him much momentum. If he wins in SC, then we have something.

Anything but a decisive outright victory in IA and NH does little for Giuliani or McCain as they are still perceived as front runners. They are in the most dangerous position as a bunch of 2nd and 3rd place results do nothing for them.

For anybody else, a placing in the top 3 will bring huge momentum to that candidate. And anyone winning SC that’s not Rudy McRomney will likely not be looking back from there.

This race is ripe for an upset.

I would vote for Romney in any case, but having Thompson on the ticket with him makes it a bit more palatable. I would also welcome a Romney/Hunter ticket. If Romney chooses Huckabee I would hold my nose but still vote for them. I am very wary of Huckabee’s commitment to conservatism.

If Thompson should be VP and they indeed win, then in 8 years we might be faced with the same situation we have today. A wide open GOP race with no vice president in the running. I suspect that Fred will be too old to run for president then, especially since he has had cancer.

Be honest I don’t see that ticket. I will suppport the Republican nominee even Rudy and Romney, though I almost prefer the quick death of the republic over those two.

Odd thing is that I was mildly in favor of Mitt until I got to know him.

Needless to say I would watch him like a hawk.

I am glad it won’t come to that. I have faith and also insight into how Fred works. It will either be one of the biggest successes in modern politics or a dismal failure. Thing is we will not know until the end really, because that is the way Fred is. But he is batting 1000 on sucessful political campaigns...

I think we should stop wasting the American taxpayers money on elections. They are costly and time consuming. I think we should let CBS and the NY Times poll select our President for us. Would that be a great deal different than what we have now?

Every thread touting a poll gets this comment.

If Barack manages to pull this off and become Pres., would that make America become an Obama nation?

“alienate the dim’s black base in doing so.”

If blacks haven’t been alienated by now I seriously doubt this issue would do it. Hilary could put Obama in a hole and shovel the dirt on herself and it wouldn’t make a blip.

I know more blacks who align themselves with conservative values on a one to one basis and they just keep lining up for the Dems. It’s quite pathetic.

It’ll be curious to see what happens when Hispanics officially claim the mantle of most preferred victim class from the “African-Americans”.

It’s you, Brutus!
