Actually, it very rarely happens. That's why its news. Other freepers' desire to kill cops notwithstanding.
Depends on your definition of 'rarely'. Sheriff's deputies have shot and killed 2 dogs this year in the county where I live. Neither dog belonged to or lived where the suspect did. Almost the same scenario as this one in both cases - serving a warrant and trespassing. Bad enough if the cops apologize.
Unless management steps in with some honesty and integrity the badge is going to be a target, and not in the distant future. The Sheriff's spokesman in my county said it was a shame but that LEO's lives were more important. He said the same thing when an entire family was held at gunpoint on the ground for 4 hours because the son had the same name as a suspect in a robbery. Although law enforcement discovered within an hour that they had the wrong family, they continued to terrorize and verbally abuse this family for another 3 hours. Unfortunately this is not as rare as you would like to believe.
Those of you in law enforcement know what I am talking about...clean your house before you lose the trust of the majority.
Nobody here wants to kill anybody.
But there are three things no man will endure: you don't fuck their wife, you don't mess with their kids, and you don't kick their dog.
Any man who allows any one of these things is bound for Hell, two tiers below Hitler's special suite.
It's something I just know in my bones. No, I didn't read it anywhere-- and all evidence to the contrary I can, and actually do read--but some rules aren't explicitly enumerated.
Is there any reason that cops who enter people's property without legal justification and then harm those people or their property should not be prosecuted the same as any other trespasser, assailant, or vandal?
Actually, it very rarely happens.
Well there was a very similar incident described in an article on FR about a week ago.
