Why do people assume God is as mean-spirited as they are?

God gives all of us freedom of choice. I suppose if you read the Old Testament you would naturally believe he is mean spirited as you say. That isn't what the nature of God is. He gave His Son so that we have a pathway to eternal life.

My definition of Hell is being apart from God. I don't wish it on anyone. I made the decision to accept Jesus as my Lord and savior.
