It probably wouldn’t have been as intense a fire as the one on the plane leaving Miami that crashed into the Everglades when fire erupted in the cargo hold, but a fire anywhere on an airplane in flight is a great concern. I’m not sure they are even now required to have fire detection systems in the cargo areas. Perhaps someone around here will know if that change was made after the Florida crash.
