Do your best job to get your person in the slot, but don’t be foolish after if it isn’t you pick.

I won't be. . .I won't be voting for Rudy.

Hillary gets you liberal justices

So would Rudy. He claims he will nominate 'strict constructionists'. Big deal. . .he believes abortion is protected by the constitution.

Hillary gets you more life through the government, higher government employment and will confiscate the medical vocations into government departments.

Perhaps she would do so more than Rudy. But I can live with this better than I could live with myself for voting for Rudy (who, by the way, advocates public funding for abortions).

ANY REPUBLICAN will be a lot better, especially with justices.

I have to weigh how much 'better' I think a candidate would be against the damage to my conscience if I completely abandon my principles. I don't see that much difference between Rudy and Hillary, and he's certainly not worth being unable to look at myself in the mirror.

People here really need to look at the long term results of NOT VOTING REPUBLICAN in the election

People need to be able to live with themselves. Truly, if the Republican party has moved so far left that Rudy is their choice for President, I don't think I belong in the party any more.

Enchante,

I hereby absolve you of all guilt related to and/or resulting from your prior involvement in political office.

Your lifetime of abstention from further political avarice is living proof that you have conquered the demons which cause some to seek continued elected praise in lieu of actual accomplishment or achievement.

You need not feel any further remorse nor require the offering of any additional apologies. You are entirely and fully relieved of further punishment.

Please continue to live your life as a fully production American citizen and cherish your freedom from elected zeal.

blah, blah, blah. Therefore, Hereto, On Behalf Of, etc, etc, etc.

BPJAM, on behalf of Freepers of America.

You may be correct--and I tend to agree. He's not the ONLY candidate out there talking about it, but he may be the only one on most people's radar. Frankly, with that much (praiseworthy) emphasis on the Constitution, I don't know why you aren't looking at the one who is passionate about it. That's not a campaign statement and doesn't have any material bearing on our conversation.

Look, here's the problem as I see it: we've been told this "uphold the Constitution" line many times. And every President mouths the words on Inauguration Day, usually hours before going out and pulling some unconstitutional act.

Can you blame people for not really believing it, for being cynical, unless someone comes across as really passionate about it? You are passionate about it. I am. 100% of Freepers say they are (I think about 20% really are when it comes down to testing their positions against the Constitution). But is Fred? I don't know. I get the feeling he doesn't even want to be President any more than GHWB did at the end of his first term. And that's the thinking I was talking about.

I will say this--he's the only one of the top 4 or 5 I'd even consider voting for.

I won’t be voting for Rudy in the primaries either, but if it comes down to Rudy and Hillary, then I have to be a grown up and look at the facts.

Rudy would bring conservative judges
Hillary would bring liberals that would make law from the bench

Hillary would push socialized medicine and higher taxes.
Rudy would push keeping taxes lower and no socialized medicine.

There is a difference.

Hillary would push the USA surrendering to terror, Rudy would not.

Now I'm equally with you in not preferring Rudy to win the primary, but if he does....

I will not allow Hillary to win by either not voting or throwing the vote down the third party Ross Perot hole. I will vote ANY Republican at this critical time over Hillary.

Rudy would bring conservative judges

I think the evidence is to the contrary. Rudy is in favor of legalized abortion, and he's certainly never said "but that opinion is unconstitutional'. Rudy would pick judges that he believes think like he does - and he is not a conservative.

Rudy would push keeping taxes lower and no socialized medicine.

Don't be so sure. Rudy has stated he is in favor of tax-payer funding of abortion.

Hillary would push the USA surrendering to terror, Rudy would not.

Hillary says a lot of words, but she isn't stupid. If she won, she'd want a second term, and that won't happen if we get attacked again on her watch.

I will not allow Hillary to win by either not voting or throwing the vote down the third party Ross Perot hole.

That is, of course, your choice. I could not look at myself in the mirror if I voted for Rudy. I'll have to go third party.

Any Republican including Rudy would be far better than the Democrat.
Not voting, voting Democrat or voting down a third party black hole will all get Democrats elected.

sigh — read the thread that answers this question. He did NOT vote against impeachment. He voted FOR obstruction of justice, which was against the office, and he voted against the perjury charges, which he believed was about his personal bad behavior and was harder to prove. Either vote was FOR impeachment, so yes, he voted FOR impeachment.

Let’s not continue to spread the lies of the left about Thompson. Thank you.

In past years, I would have agreed with you and fully supported the idea that we should just vote for the person with the "R" beside their name. But with Rudy and Ronnie running, I can't say that any more. I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I completely abandoned my principles by voting for either of them.

I guess we each must do what we believe to be right.

And I can't look at you in the mirror if Hillary is elected because your 'principles' are more important than the future of this country.
