Sure, I will gladly support Fred if he has continues the progress he made last week. I will have my eye on him. And I would gladly support him....IF, he gets it together. I know this is not a popular view. I have seen a lot of presidential campaigns since the 1950’s, so I know a little about it. Fred had a terrible start and lost my vote. He can gain it back, but I have to see more, a lot more. He is right on the issues, that much I agree. Can he beat Hillary? He has to convince me.

"Trust me when I tell you that Rudy’s campaign has a strong grassroots campaign."

Maybe in the People's Republic of New York.

Yes the pro-life plank will stay. RTL just killed the Human Life Amendment part.

I have never really thought RTL was great at strategy. But I have always trusted their endorsements. What they have done is downgrade the value of their endorsements with this compromised endorsement for the "can win" hope. There is a good chance he won't even win the primary.

Oh, I think some of them were bought off. By Romney contributing generous sums to their causes the last couple of years. But, yeah, i don’t believe that’s the case with all. Some jumped because Romney at least was willing to “say” the right things, Rudy was not. Now their committed and aren’t humble enough to admit a mistake.

I agree, but my mind can be changed. Not by his fanatics, but by Fred himself. Let’s see.

Right now it is John McCain. Of course another unpopular FR guy. However, he at least has fire in his belly, and the energy needed for the long haul. Huckabee is a long shot, of cours. But there is still a chance he can win, even if it is small. Hunter can’t win, and Thompson scares me to death with his low energy. Let Fred be Fred, and he will wind up DEAD. Even his handlers know it.

Certainly not. If their name indicates anything, they believe there should be a national right to life. Which is correct, there should be, and is, a national right to life. Which is being violated. Fred Thompson doesn’t believe there’s a national right to life.

I’d say if an organization called National Right to Life endorses a guy who opposes a national right to life, their motivation/thinking is flawed.

Okay, fair enough.

Since the polls reflect part of what you seem to be saying here, it’s fair I think to state the race is still very fluid then. Which means this endrosement comes at the right time and I agree he needs to take this and the support that comes with it and run hard.

“To begin with, new data shows Thompson is no longer seen by Republican voters as the most conservative candidate in the field. Mitt Romney earns that title for the first time and Mike Huckabee is gaining quickly. Also, the full week results for the Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll show Thompson’s support at the lowest level since May. Romney is tied with him now and McCain just a point behind. Huckabee once again remains within hailing distance of the others and maintains his double digit level of support.”

Pretty darn full of info for someone who joined two days ago. What campaign are you a shill for? Are you paid?

He had better if he wants people like me back. I realize that many on here do not believe people like me would like to support him. But we do, we just don’t buy into the laid back Fred crap. He really does seem lazy. Sorry but it is true. Lately he is much better, but a week does not make a campaign for president!

Now you are with Huckabee?

I have run across you type before.

Why in just a short amount of time you will have a revelation about the sheer brilliance of Mitt Romney.

Its been tried before, we are not easily fooled. Romney supporters show up, pretending to be for someone else and then ‘come around’ to Romney.

I don’t remember getting an e-mail asking me for my opinion, so I think that this was a vote of the national leadership, NOT of the members.

Well, here is the operative part:
Since announcing his candidacy in September, Fred Thompson has run second only to pro-abortion candidate Rudy Giuliani for the Republican nomination in the overwhelming majority of national polls. As pro-lifers throughout the nation begin to unite behind his candidacy, he will be well positioned to win the nomination and the presidency.
Their endorsement amounts to "He's pro-life, and he was second in the national polls at the moment we made our choice".

I guess if they had done this a month earlier or later, we'd have a different candidate being endorsed.

Still if there's a chance this will actually unite anybody, it's a good play. You've got to pick someone I guess.

It will be interesting to see the effect of this. I think voters are in a very independent mindset and are likely to just scatter all over the board since there is no good choice other than those being stalked by the paranoid “can’t win” suicide bomber.

You’ll feel pretty stupid if you find out Fred contributed money to the NRTL.

Actually, you probably won’t, because fred supporters wouldn’t let consistancy ruin their day.
