When Genarlow Wilson arrived as the guest of honor for a local NAACP fundraiser, hundreds rose to their feet and gave him a standing ovation before honoring him with an award.
For three years, the West Metro NAACP chapter led the fight to free the 20-year-old after he was sentenced to 10 years in prison on felony charges for having sex with an underaged girl at a New Year's Eve party, an incident that was videotaped.

Tell me that organization hasn't changed.
The words, “moral collapse” spring to mind.
It’s part of the Oprah-ization of America and why she will demand HRC in 2008.
Please note, at the time he was 17 and she was 15. Still illegal, immoral, wrong, but it’s not like he was a 35 y.o. And no, he shouldn’t be honored.
The title addition is misleading. The guy was 17 when it happened. Two years older and they were both minors. I’m not saying this is an “OK thing”, but teenagers having sex is pretty freakin’ common.
I guess this is the kind of individual that the NAACP sees as a role model.
Which makes sense, because too few 15 year old African-American girls are having dalliances with irresponsible young men, and such activity needs to be encouraged within the community.
Well, since she was 15 at the time and he was 17, saying that a 20 year old had sex with a 15 year old isn’t accurate. It would be accurate to say that the 20 year old had sex with and 18 year old, or a 17 year old had sex with a 15 year old.
Yes, by letter of the law it was stautory rape, but by the tale of the videotape, it was her coming over to him, dropping to her knees and performing oral sex on him of her own will at a party.
I think justice was served in this case.
I also believe, however, that the NAACP should not be honoring people who just happened to get a court decision in their favor.
kinda sez more about the NAACP than anybody else. speaks volumes, if ya ask me, about the character of the organization who can’t find honest, law abiding people to honor and has to stoop to this...
Talk about moral decay. I saw Denzel Washington talking about the murdering, drug dealing criminal whose character he plays in his new movie. He had nothing but praise and admiration for him.
I been on top of this story on my Blog.
Below...the true crime tale...the TRUTH.

Below....the BET honors this “hero”. This one is a real heated rant.

It all reminds me of the movie, “Devil’s Advocate”...
“...Till Heaven chokes on the stench of it”...
I’m sure the NAACP had a list of notable folks to give the award to, but after running it through the “anyone-but-conservatives” filter, they ended up with this guy at the top.
Do you know if she was white or black?
Both the boy and girl were black.
I must correct myself. That second link is for the infamous Jena 6, yet another case of the media praising a group of black thugs.
The Black Entertainment Awards praised them as well.
I regret the confusion. But if you click on the second link you’ll also see a pic of the world’s fattest newborn.
Does this idiot have any understanding that the justice system that he wants to "stick it to" is the same system that decided the punishment was unwarranted and freed their molesting little hero? Probably not.
No suprise. r kelly got the NAACP “pass” for far worse.
