"That is what the Government loves, having a fearful people asking it to save them from the 'bogymen'."

Exactly, you nailed it. And I'm kind of surprised that more people on this site don't see that.

It's a known tactic, promoting a "bogeyman", or something for people to fear, in order to manipulate people so they can accomplish their goals.

The good news is, people are waking up and realizing what the actual threat is. A move towards an un-free socialist/globalist world government.

I find it incredibly ironic that people are calling Paul crazy or a traitor, when it is Bush (like Clinton before him) who is signing our country away in their move towards the NAU, a future "Amero" in place of the dollar.

This unAmerican, unconstitutional move towards global government has been going on for a long time now, and THAT is what people can see is the true threat to our country, our constitution and freedom.

That is precisely why Paul has growing support, the scales are falling off of people's eyes everyday, which is a very good thing.

I think more people should remember the warnings from our founders. what did Benjamin Franklin say about giving up liberty for "security"?

Where is Ron Paul on this poll? He is over 5% nationally and is pro-life and has always been pro-life!

Pro-Hizbollah life, not so pro-Israeli life.

So that’s it, huh? ronpaul sees himself (or his supporters see him) as that idealistic emperor. The perceived America of your dreams, in your eyes, will become victim to the our attempts to destroy the barbarians. Here’s a clue. The babarians of today make the barbarians of yore look positively civilized.

Oh, and stop pushing your “smarts.” A whole lot of us had classical educations.

Duncan Hunter is all of those things plus he’s got the experience. More so than Ron Paul.

Where is Stephen Colbert on this poll? He is over 5% nationally and is pro-life and has always been pro-life!

He dropped out of the race last week.

You underestimate your fellow FReepers. We are light years from “fearful.” We just happen to have our eyes open. But thanks for the condescension, oh wise ones.

“Where is Ron Paul on this poll?
Ron? He’s off co sponsoring legislation that others wrote. None of his legislation ever went anywhere. For a guy who claims he loves ‘small government’, he sure signed on to a bunch of bills.”

Wow !...good post AuntB...nice research

You've hit on something here more than you may realize (OK, I know you realize it, but for the sake of everyone else...) How much of what Ron Paul is promising is not Constitutionally justified? Eliminate income tax? All spending and taxation issues must originate from Congress, where Paul is at now, not from the Executive, where he wants to be.

Ron Paul’s name should be on it since he is also Pro-life.

I hate to be the one to tell you that that call is not yours to make. Paulnutter has removed himself from any serious consideration with his adherence to Isolationism...go to indymedia where he gets equal representation with Nader, McKinney, and Kukunich. Enough time has been wasted regarding Paulnutter...I am going to do something more useful...like bathing my dog or trimming my toenails.

Would that be how Paul incites fear and a bogeyman out of President Bush, law enforcement, the FBI, DEA, whom else? Facing the realist threat of extremists who have time and time again attacked us is not creating a bogeyman. Creating fear of those who are trying to protect us is creating a bogeyman.

You seemed to forget something on this one...

"and 0 were successfully enacted" .

According to your link....

and 0 were successfully enacted (Average, relative to peers).

Changes the context just a bit, wouldn't you say?

Freedom isn’t free. It isn’t handed out on a platter for all to share.

My freedom is so precious as the blood of too many good Americans have paid the price to secure my freedom. There are no words that I can say to express my gratitude for their sacrifice.

Ron Paul is saying freedom can simply be had by withdrawing all of our troops from the world. If it was the year 1830, I would probably agree with him.

We will be hit again. The jihadists have said “you love life, we love death” It is their intent to crush Western Civilization so that their religion rules over all. They have told us this again and again.

Maybe they are a small percentage of the Muslims, but a small percentage of 1.5 billion could easily be tens of thousands up to a hundred thousand jihadists intent on killing the great Satan. The right weapon may not kill us as a nation, but the potential is there for them to kill tens of millions.

Ron Paul says “Don’t worry, we will only act defensively”

I’m tired of playing defense. We were attacked. We should stomp out these vermin worldwide until their spawn trembles at the mention of United States of America. I want their great great great grandchildren to remember the whipping these vermin received at the hands of US servicemen. The terrorists understand force. I want to make SURE they understand the term.

It's the actions of any open-borders, NAU supporting, unconstitutional leaders that are to blame, not Ron Paul for telling it like it is.

His intention is not to create a false fear (like the global warming crowd) he is doing what very few politicians do, he is speaking the truth, about our constitution that is being trampled, the massive debt, a foreign policy that has consequences, the slow eroding of our liberties, and a move towards global government.

He is looking at the bigger picture, and like a physician (which he is) he is looking at the root cause of our problems, instead just putting a bandaid on them. That is exactly why he has growing support, many people already knew these things before, but now we finally have someone who has the cajones to speak out about it and he is speaking for the PEOPLE, instead of the special interests and elitists in DC.

I just figured it out, you are joking. No one can be serious about that. Have you asked Paul why he has requested 13Million in funds for the NAU/NAFTA TransTexas Corridor? Sure, he is telling it like it is, wink wink.. Open borders? Have you asked Paul why he votes over and over against putting the military on the border? Sure, he is telling you like it is, wink wink... Time and age ago, Paul may have been the champion of Constitutional causes, but he has long since sold his soul to DC insiders and campaign contributors. He is an opportunist who has sided with our enemy and is only accepted because he wraps himself in the Dummies Guide to the Constitution.

If it was the year 1830, I would probably agree with him.

Even then, 1830 would have been relatively safe thanks to Thomas Jefferson's earlier undeclared 4 year war against the Barbary pirates (that warmonger!).
