PM TO SHOW ENTHUSIASM FOR US LINK
Gordon Brown will attempt to repair his battered relations with President Bush by insisting that the US remains Britain's closest ally.
The Prime Minister will use his annual Mansion House foreign policy speech to try to quash speculation that he values transatlantic ties less than his predecessor, Tony Blair.
He will also signal support for America's tough stance against Iran - insisting now is the time to "ratchet up" diplomatic pressure, and again refusing to rule out support for military strikes.
A Downing Street source said Mr Brown was determined that there would be "no misunderstandings" about his enthusiasm for the special relationship.
Senior figures in Washington have become increasingly concerned that the new premier has been trying to distance himself from President Bush.
Fears were intensified over the summer by comments from foreign office minister Lord Malloch Brown that the two countries would no longer be "joined at the hip".
There was also alarm over moves to "draw down" UK troops in Iraq.
Mr Brown is expected to tell the Guildhall event that the arrival of new leaders in France and Germany means that Europe and the US have the best opportunity for closer co-operation for "many years".
The Western powers should be working together to carry out vital reforms on international organisations such as the UN, he will say.
PING
Little jealous of the Frogs, maybe?
:-)
lol
Yeah probably.
Rumour has it he is know as ‘Lord Bo**ock Brown’ at the moment - nobody like him and apparently he could lose his job pretty soon.
Miliband is alright - a complete lightweight though and more than likely the next Labour leader.
Interesting article linked here about “Lord” B***ock Brown:

I can’t stand the guy since watching his performance as apologist and enabler for the corrupt and depraved UN leadership.
Thanks for that.
He’s a moron flat out and nothing more than an attempt on the part of Brown to win back some leftie support.
It’s a clear difference between him and Blair.
I’m currently reading a very interesting account of the Blair years from 01 (mainly of course covering the W.O.T.) and it shows the backward thinking of the Labour Party movement.
In one exchange, Blair was warned his support for the US would make the leftie unions and base unhappy - to which he replies ‘Are they crazy?’.
Interestingly, this wasn’t during the Iraq crisis - it was just a couple of weeks after 9/11.
Shocking really.
Gordon Brown isn’t made of the same stuff - he’s a calculating bully. I want rid of BOTH Browns.
Dont you believe it! Itll be a cold day in hell before we get jealous of “Monsieur Jean Crapaud”!
