There may be something to this. I am being treated for lung cancer for the second time. The first time, in 1998, I quit smoking, as did my husband. But his whole body then sort of went to hell in a handbasket. He gained weight, had to have triple bypass open heart surgery, has insomnia, has high blood pressure. None of these problems appeared until he quit smoking. Also I worked with a man who quit smoking, and his BP went so high and some other things went wrong, and his doctor told him to go back to smoking. Just anecdotal, but interesting.
