Miss Beach, the Labour mayor of Chepstow in Monmouthshire, said: "I would prefer for there not be any guns at the parade - and raised it because it is an issue I personally feel very strongly about.
"I am very much against guns and think they are awful things. Killing in any war is awful and I am against this violence.

The faint-hearted, who fear, whose reaction is flight,
Have no comprehension of those who will fight.
To hide their own trepidation they attempt to demean
The rough men, who defend them, as barbaric, obscene.
Yet these rough men stand ready, hard weapons to hand, To put placaters behind them, draw a line in the sand,
To preserve for the peaceniks what they wont defend,
So their own unearned freedom wont perish, wont end.
To appeasers, rough men are coarse government tools.
To rough men, appeasers are dumb delusional fools.

That’s like asking the marchers in a gay pride parade not to bring their...
sorry, bad analogy.
“Only the dead have seen the last of war”.
Plato
Why does it seem recently, whenever there’s a story which makes one look and think “is (he or she) completely insane?”, the story is about England?
Please let’s not follow their lead, on political correctness.
We really, truly need to start fighting back. Acquiescence and compromise will result in America becoming just as lost.
Well, it's a good thing she is not in Poland... here is THEIR Independence Day,
She would absolutely have her knickers in square knots.
Betcha five bucks those are real select fire AK's with bayonets. No wimping around from those boys.
They had them in several period uniforms as well.
Here is how they treat their flag.
Back in time just a bit.
These boys go waaay back.
Hummm, there is something familiar about those uniforms...
We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in
the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.
George Orwell (1903 - 1950)
If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed,
if you will not fight when your victory can be sure and not too costly,
you may come to a moment when you have to fight with all the odds against you,
and only a precarious chance to survive.
There may even be a worse case -
You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory,
and it will be better to perish than to live in slavery.
- Winston Churchill, 1937.
Seriously, where do they find these people?
Don't know, but right afterwords, the likes of her were confiscating and destroying the guns of the Home Guard. Some of those guns had been collected from individual Americans by the NRA and donated to the Home Guard, well before the US got into the war.
Fortunately for England they also still have people like the (Iron) Lady in the center of this Remembrance Day
These guys weren't too pleased with the Mayors sentiments it appears.
Things are actually better, and much worse, than the excerpt indicates. The ninny got no support for her position amongst the rest of the town council. That's the better. The worse is that a ceremonial cannon firing, to mark the beginning and end of the moment of silence has been banned in some location. In another the tradition of putting wreaths made of poppies onto a "mountain" has also been ended...well officially, there' a group that planned a little "civil disobedience" of the ban.
Time to go shopping!
The lady's entitled to her opinion of course, but the men of Agincourt, Paschendaele, El Alemein, Burma and the Battle of Britain deserve better, as do the Brits who stand with us in Afganistan and Iraq today.
She must be related to Neville Chamberlain.
I heard a rumor that Helen Thomas used to date Neville Chamberlain, but it’s unconfirmed.
There you are, going straight to the pointed sticks, when her local police probably haven't even finished their training in defending against assault by every form of fruit! Now, take this banana and have at me!!
(Judging from this idiot woman's statements, I have to assume she grew up watching too much Monty Python and mistaking it for the news. Then again, John Cleese fended off the banana attack by shooting the assailant, so I guess he'd be banned from her town, too.)
Yeah I agree, those wars that involve killing people are awful and I'm against them too. From now on let's just have non-violent wars and skip that awful killing part. I don't know why somebody hasn't thought of that before, that mayor lady must be a real genius.
If only Neville Chamberlain had thought of that back in 1938 he could have gotten Hitler and Mussolini to agree to no killing in WWII, and that war would have been much more pleasant for everyone.
